The time has come to learn a new cancer language and to embrace a new movement. Instead of “fighting cancer,” let’s embrace ‘healing breast cancer.’

When you fight cancer, your body goes into “fight or flight” mode which means stress. Stress means inflammation. Chronic inflammation leads to various diseases and cancer.

Healing any DIS-EASE in your body is employing a gentle and loving approach which is the fertile soil your mind, spirit, body needs to heal.

Let’s put down the weapons and focus on healing breast cancer.

Just when the caterpillar thought her life was over,
She became a butterfly.

Stressed Out from Fighting

Fighting cancer creates stress in your body as it starts the “fight or flight” cycle.

According to the American Psychological Association, chronic stress is linked to the six leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide. More than 75 percent of all physician office visits are for stress-related ailments and complaints. https://www.miamiherald.com/living/article1961770.html

Stress is not welcomed on your healing cancer journey! A body that is stressed-out cannot heal which can cause cancer to exist and proliferate.

Learning a new cancer language

Let’s put an end to what the medical community uses as an arsenal of warfare lingo to talk about cancer: We fight cancer. We are battle-ready to win this war on cancer. We are pressed to “keep up the fight.”

Enough of the military metaphors! It’s time to put down our weapons and focus on healing.

Stop “fighting cancer” and instead let’s embrace HEALING DIS-EASE.

When you focus on healing, your mind-set will create a more relaxed and loving you…which is the foundation you want to build on your healing journey.

Anti-Cancer Living shared a 2014 study by the University of Michigan and Southern California that researched the impact of framing cancer as an enemy in an ongoing war.

The findings suggest the war metaphor causes people to be less likely to actively engage in behavior to decrease cancer risks.

The body goes into high alert and becomes battle ready…which continues the fear cycle of cancer. Being at war with your body is not a healthy approach when trying to recover from cancer.

How can we heal when we are at war with cancer?

It’s time to learn a new language…let’s heal breast cancer!

Facts on the Pink Ribbon Campaign

  • The original “pink ribbon” was salmon colored.
  • The ribbon movement was started by Charlotte Haley, a breast cancer survivor, after her mother, sister, and daughter had been diagnosed with
    breast cancer.
  • Charlotte created the salmon colored ribbon to shed light on the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for the lack of funding for the prevention
    of breast cancer.
  • Estee Lauder wanted to join forces with Charlotte to raise money for breast cancer.
  • Charlotte knew her mission of preventing breast cancer would not align with Estee Lauder’s toxic perfumes and skin products. Charlotte declined
    the offer.
  • Estee Lauder stole Charlotte’s ribbon idea and changed the color to pink.

Unraveling the Pink Ribbon

The pink ribbon campaign is celebrating its 26th anniversary this year. Unfortunately, this billion dollar cancer movement has done little the past 26 years to reduce breast cancer rates and even less to find “the cure.”
Instead of supporting a movement to fight breast cancer, let’s support a movement to heal breast cancer.
As Mother Teresa shared, “I will never attend an anti-war rally; if you have a peace rally, invite me.” This same line of thinking aligns with fighting cancer. Rather than fighting, let’s focus on healing.
Cancer feeds on anger, resentment, and suppressed emotions. Instead of “fighting cancer” we need to learn to love our bodies. When we start to love our bodies, the healing will begin.

Instead of supporting a movement to fight breast cancer,
let’s support a movement to heal breast cancer.

We have choices when it comes to treating breast cancer. Many healthy options exist for healing our cancer…not just the antiquated ways of chemotherapy, radiation, surgery.

More and more breast cancer thrivers are looking for healthier ways to treat and to ultimately heal their cancer. Our divine right is to lead a quality lifestyle while undergoing our healing cancer journey.
Many non-conventional cancer treatments exist, however, the majority are not accepted by the conventional medical community or by medical insurance. As a result, many people cannot afford non-conventional treatments and go bankrupt on their cancer journey.

A New Logo: The Purple Butterfly

The time has come for a new logo, the purple butterfly, to symbolize a HEALING movement.

The butterfly represents hope, health, happiness. She stands for education, empowerment, and transformation after going through her metamorphosis on her healing journey.

A Breast Cancer healing journey is very similar to that of a butterfly. You may start out having certain beliefs, habits and lifestyles but if you open your heart and mind, and are patient, you will see that your Breast Cancer journey is more than just healing your body physically. It is also about transforming the inner you. You will come to understand that your healing journey has a greater purpose- that you will emerge on the ‘other side’ as a happier, healthier, more fulfilled, and spiritual you. Let’s begin the journey together…”
