FOUNDER'S MESSAGE

Dear Friend:

The National Cancer Institute, major research institutions as well as hundreds of thousands of cancer patients are examining alternative and complementary cancer therapies. And many of these non-conventional approaches are helping to save lives.

That's the good news.

The bad news is our Center receives so many requests for this information—and so little help—we often can't get it to the people who need it.

Since 1977, the Center for Advancement in Cancer Education has been discovering, examining and disseminating information about new protective and therapeutic approaches to cancer. We have been working diligently to further cancer prevention and treatment through "integrative medicine," a combination of nature and science that has gained widespread public acceptance and professional endorsement.

The Center provides many needed services:

• In-person or telephone counseling for cancer patients and families

• Extensive referrals to physicians and other health professionals

• Classes, workshops and lectures for the general public

• Annual conference for cancer care professionals and clinicians

Annual Food & Health Expo during National Nutrition Month

Health News & Views and Immune Perspectives newsletter and magazine

• Cancer reference library of more than 10,000 books, tapes and articles

• Risk assessments and cancer prevention lifestyle consultations

• Speakers bureau of professional health consultants

• Research on nutritional and psycho-social aspects of cancer control

Over the years we have helped more than 25,000 patients. But the increasing demand for our services far exceeds our modest resources. Unlike other organizations, which often charge hundreds of dollars for cancer report packages, we provide free individualized information, counseling and referrals. We work on a shoestring budget with only a handful of volunteers but, as helpful as they are, they cannot replace full-time, or even part-time employees.

As a non-profit organization, we face a chronic shortage of funds. We simply cannot respond to all those who need us.

Your donation of $35, $50, $100, $250, $500, or $1000 will help us provide the services that cancer patients and their families so desperately need.
Please send your donation today and help us continue to help others tomorrow!
Sincerely,

Susan Silberstein, PhD
Executive Director
